FiiZK Aqua (formerly, AkvaFresh) water treatment plant is designed to produce high quality water for fish farming. Whether that’s for egg to post-smolt production in land-based systems or for gentle ‘freshwater’ treatments for sea lice management, the solutions are possible with FiiZK Aqua.
FiiZK Aqua uses membrane filtration to stop unwanted substances. The use of membranes is to prevent particle contamination, organic pollution and biological pollution (parasites, bacteria and viruses). The membrane pore size determines the fraction that is possible to retain through filtration and our plants offer facilities for Ultrafiltration (UF; pore size 0.01 – 1.0 µm), Nanofiltration (NF; pore size 0.001 – 0.01 µm) and Reverse Osmosis (RO; pore size <0.001 µm).
Membrane Filtration | Pore Size (µm) | Raw Water Source | Desalinated | Application |
Ultrafiltration (UF) | 0.01 – 1.0 | Sea water | No | Intake water for land-based facilities |
Nanofiltration (NF) | 0.001 – 0.01 | Sea Water Brackish water Salty groundwater | Partially (3-22 ‰) | Prevention & treatment of parasitesIntake water for land-based facilities |
Reverse Osmosis (RO) | < 0.001 | Sea water | Yes (0.3 ‰) | Intake water for land-based facilities |
FiiZK Aqua produces high quality water for land-based aquaculture facilities by utilizing the ultrafiltration capabilities. Ultrafiltration will remove bacteria and viruses and results in water that is well within recommendations for drinking! The low amount of particles in ultra-filtrated water will also ensure a maximum effect of UV treatment as a second biosecurity measure. Our system produces water for egg up to post-smolt from sea water sources.
FiiZK Aqua’s patented membrane filtration solution produces ion-modified water and has been proven to be highly effective for controlling sea lice and AGD infections. The nanofiltration technology provides a clean supply of water that has been filtered of suspended particles, parasites, bacteria and viruses. By optimizing the water that fish are bathed in, subsequently results in increased biosecurity and improved fish welfare.
